Controls integrator that was familiar with end users standards and practices.

Solution

PK Controls was hired to manage the electrical portion of a material handling conveyor system. This included engineering, panel build, set-up/run-off at OEM site, and installation at customer site. PK Controls brought experience and knowledge of the electrical standards to the project. The installation was done during non-production hours.

The project was on-time. The end user was impressed with the final product and how seamless PKC and the OEM they had selected worked together.

Custom Cables

Client Needs

Reduce cost and improve delivery of custom control cables for MRO cage.

Solution

PK Controls redesigned cables using domestic parts as well as off the shelf cable and connectors.

Client Benefit

The redesigned cables PK Controls completed vastly improved delivery time from 8-10 weeks to 2-4 weeks. The cost has been reduced on average of 20% per cable.

Custom Cables and Panels

Client Need

Side panel innovation project for automotive plant.

Solution

Over 1200 cables (power and control)

• Over 260 terminal boxes of varying sizes and types.
• Provided complete installation kits for onsite installation.
• At the urgent request of our customer, took this job with a fully loaded shop. We refocused the team and added personnel to make this happen.

Robot Integration

Client Needs

Customer wanted to automate one of their major lines producing automobile floors.

Solution

PK Controls was chosen to assist with the work based on our engineering skill levels and track record with previous projects.

• There was a total of 42 material handling and welding Fanuc Robots.
• This was a long term project taking over 1 ½ years.
• We produced and installed master control panels, custom cables, wired the entire line, helped with the integration, and many other aspects of the project.

Robot Integration

Client Need

Customer had a three-robot work cell that was not properly equipped for the safety of their personnel.

Solution

PK Controls procured and installed light curtains, e-stop switches and dead man switches to enable the work cell to be placed in a zero energy state whenever necessary to ensure the safety of the operators. Work also included putting all cables in new cable trays, building new cables and/or extending existing cables and completely documenting the safety procedures including pictures and detailed instructions.

Client Benefit

The work cell was now considered to be safe for operators to use and maintain.

Robot Integration

Client Need

Customer had a line of five Motoman robots that were designed to build left doors for one of their cars. Customer wanted to upgrade their line to handle both right and left doors and improve safety.

Solution

Working on weekends and during their shutdown:

• PK Controls installed light curtains, heavily interlocked the machinery, and consolidated and upgraded the tooling.
• Tooling could then be changed in only a few minutes to produce either left or right doors.

Client Benefit

The changes greatly improved throughput on this line and helped improve the speed of the line.
